Fallen Flag Tribute : Conrail

Volume Two

It is truly hard to believe that it has been this long since Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation took over Conrail operations on June 1, 1999. Conrail had been in existence for a little over twenty-three years, which is a "blink of the eye" as far as railroad history goes. Thankfully, today there are a few locomotives plying NS and CSXT rails that still carry their "Conrail" or "Conrail Quality" paint schemes. In the not too distant future, all these former Conrail locomotives will wear a livery of either NS black and white or CSXT blue and gold. Fallen Flag Tribute : Conrail is the second installment in our Fallen Flag video series, and takes a close look at the various Conrail locomotive models in service on both NS and CSXT. Everything from GP38-2s to SD80MACs are represented leading various NS and CSXT trains all across the state of Georgia. Many of the locomotives on this video have already been repainted, so time is slowly but surely running out. Come along for the ride as we look back at "Big Blue"! Volume Two covers the time period from April of 2001 to December of 2002. Videography by Mike Dixon. Edited and Produced by Mike Dixon.
