CN Yazoo Sub in Mississippi

Although several years have passed since CN acquired the Illinois Central and merged the smaller Class I into its vast system, it still feels strange to me that one can railfan the Canadian National in the deep south. CN in Mississippi? It just doesn't sound right! The CN Yazoo Sub DVD examines the busy CTC-controlled mainline (formerly IC's Yazoo District) that traverses through the heart of Mississippi. Many different locations along the entire 218-mile line between Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS are featured, as is a wide variety of motive power. Witness the colorful changes the CN has brought to the IC, with plenty of CN and IC locomotives leading trains. In addition, ex-KCS SD40-3s, GCFX Alstom SD40-3s, ex-LMS C40-8Ws, GTW GP38-2s, WC SD45s, and even run-through power from BNSF and UP on coal and grain trains are seen. Long and heavy manifests are the rule, with "hotshot" intermodal trains thrown into the mix. The 79mph Amtrak City of New Orleans is also included. This interesting mainline in rural Mississippi has largely been ignored by the railfan community, so come on down and take a look at the CN, southern style! Videography by Mike Dixon.
