Best of 2004 - Volume Two

Best of 2004 - Volume Two picks up right where Volume One left off, and details the results of SouthEast Railfanning videographer Mike Dixon, who also happens to be a railroad employee, in his relentless pursuit of trains with exotic locomotive consists. Volume Two covers the months of May through August. The trains depicted on this DVD are various CSXT and NS trains captured in the states of Georgia and Alabama. More of the exciting and interesting locomotive consists you have come to expect from Southeast Railfanning are here for you to see and enjoy. All the trains are shown in chronological order. This time, we begin on a warm spring morning in central Georgia where we capture a CSXT vehicle train with unusual lease power. Finally, we conclude on a couple of hot August afternoons. The first is in northwest Georgia as we chase a loaded NS coal train with an UNBELIEVABLE lashup of four old high-hood EMD locomotives, including a GP50, two GP38-2s, and a SD40. You won't believe your eyes when you see this lashup! Next, we capture another NS train. This one is hauling Military equipment on flatcars to the U.S. Army's training base in Fort Benning, Georgia. The train's lead motor is an old SD40-2, running LONG HOOD FORWARD! Other highlights include a Wisconsin Central SD45 LEADING a CSXT vehicle train in South Georgia, a rare Conrail Quality SD70MAC and a rare Conrail Quality SD80MAC leading back to back CSXT trains, unpatched and IMMACULATE Denver & Rio Grande Western SD50 #5507 (one of ONLY two such locomotives left in existence at the time this video went to Production!) LEADING CSXT "extra" manifest X552 in southern Alabama, a red-and-white Soo Line SD60 leading a Norfolk Southern vehicle train, and much, much more. There are simply way too many exciting lashups to talk about right now, so sit back and indulge yourself in some of the best armchair railfanning you will ever experience! Come see why 2004 went down in the history books as one of the best years ever for Southeast Railfanning!! Videography by Mike Dixon. Edited and Produced by Mike Dixon.

ULTRA-RARE unpatched D&RGW SD50 #5507 is in command of northbound CSXT manifest train X552 as it passes through Georgiana, Alabama during the early morning hours. This was one NICE catch! This train is included on the DVD. Wisconsin Central SD45s are on the endangered species list, and we are lucky to capture one leading here on southbound CSXT vehicle train Q245 as it charges through Junction City, Georgia. This train is included on the DVD.
