Best of 2004 - Volume One

This video compilation, Best of 2004 - Volume One, details the results of SouthEast Railfanning videographer Mike Dixon in his relentless pursuit of trains with exotic locomotive consists. The trains depicted in this video are various CSXT and NS trains captured in the states of Georgia and Alabama during the first four months of 2004. We carefully picked our favorite trains (45 in all!) and show them in chronological order. We begin on a clear, cold Sunday morning in early January with CSXT manifest Q647 running with a quartet of SD40-2s, each in a different paint scheme. Finally, we conclude on a warm Spring day in late April where we capture NS intermodal train I4E with a sparkling, clean pair of BNSF Superfleet C44-9Ws and then CSXT's only pair of F40 locomotives pulling a "Kentucky Derby Special" passenger train. And there are many, many other nice trains in between! Because Mr. Dixon is a railroad employee, he has access to priceless information, and always strives to capture the best locomotive consists plying today's rails. Witness the only MRL SDP40 #290 LEADING NS manifest 199 thru the piney woods of central Alabama. See a trio of BNSF Superfleet SD75Ms running solo on another NS manifest. You will see "one of a kind" WC SD45 #7638, adorned in a special Operation Lifesaver paint scheme, LEADING NS manifest 175 thru Locust Grove, Georgia. A pair of unpatched Southern Pacific CW44ACs leading a CSXT unit-potash train and a Soo Line SD60 leading a CSXT intermodal train are just a few more examples of what will be seen. There are simply way too many exciting lashups to list here, so sit back and indulge yourself in some of the best armchair railfanning you will ever experience! Soo Line SD60 #6008 is in command of southbound CSXT unit-molten sulphur train K869 as it sweeps the sharp curve at Charing, Georgia on CSXT's Fitzgerald Sub at 11:14am on Saturday, January 24. This train is included on the DVD. Montana Rail Link SDP40 #290 leads westbound NS manifest 199 through the countryside near Salem, Alabama at 3:35pm on Sunday, March 28.
